What is Sprint Racing?
As the name suggests, sprint races are short – typically 10 to 15 minutes each. On a race day, competitors in different classes of kart and different age groups will each compete in a number of heats or timed qualifying sessions followed by a final.
A typical race day on the Isle of Man will see drivers each compete in 3 heats, where grid positions are determined randomly in advance, followed by a final with the starting positions in the final determined by each driver’s finishing positions in the heats.
Sprint racing is a great way for drivers of all ages to learn racecraft as overtaking is a must when starting at the back of the grid in a race lasting only 10 laps!
