2009 IOMKRA Kart Circuit
The scrutineering building is is now finished, and the Official Opening took place on the 16th August 2009, below are some of the dignitaries that attended the opening for the club.
The picture below was taken on Friday 5th June 2009 showing the new scrutineering building in construction.
Colas have now finished the new circuit, there are a few areas that are being touched up ready for the season, the white lines have been put around the edges of the track. The services are being installed during June, and the scrutineer building has been started, this too will be finished for the end of Jume 2009. The pictures below were taken on Thursday 29th January 2009 showing the Colas work force hard at work laying the tarmac surface.
The design of the circuit is both technical and fast for the drivers and with a banked corner should test the skills of the most experienced karters. It is hoped to hold British Championships events and, for the first time, we will be able to offer special tuition, in the form of an ARKS school for youngsters coming into the sport.
The IOMKRA would like to thank everyone for their patience and support over the past few years whilst this project has progressed.
There are many companies and individuals who the club would like to thank, but in particular, Colas (Isle of Man) Ltd, JCK Ltd, CBG Contractors, Swales Flooring, Public Lottery Trust, Hon A Bell MHK, Hon A Earnshaw MHK, Hon D Anderson MHK, Hon A V Craine MHK, Mr R Christopher Director of Properties DOT, and also Paul Allinson of the kart club for his continued pursuit of getting the club its new track. Also many thanks go to the many local companies who have agreed to sponsor corners and straights on the new circuit.
If companies or individuales would like to sponsor sections of the new track, or any provisions for the new track, please contact Liz Johnson on 07624 495013
