TKM Festival Preview
Published:- 5th August 2010
Once again in 2010 a number of TKM drivers both Junior and Senior will travel from the Isle of Man to contest the TKM Festival held at the Whilton Mill Kart Circuit in Northamptonshire. The meeting usually receives television coverage later in the year and so offers an ideal opportunity for the Manx drivers to gain extra publicity.
In the Senior section, Wez Dowling will be looking to put in a good performance and will be fully refreshed following a recent holiday. G&C Motorsport backed Dowling though will be on the back foot in terms of track time opposed to his rivals, he has missed the majority of the local season following a shoulder injury sustained away from the track. It shouldn’t take him long to dial back in though and be back up to full speed. The target for the event is sure to be again battling out in the top five having finished fourth in 2009, but on his day don’t count out Wez springing a surprise result.
Joining him on the grid will be young Chris Moore who returns following his inaugural outing last year. With another years racing in the TKM under his belt, Chris’s main objective is likely to be showing improvement on the previous year.
Making his debut at the event this year is Andreas Gutzold who has been on top form on the domestic scene recently and having set a new track record last time out. He will join close friend and stable mate Dave Sutcliffe on the Junior Grid.
Sutcliffe is no stranger to the event having contested it on numerous occasions and he is sure to pass on some of his experience to Gutzold as they both look to produce good performances. If rumours are true they will make up a grid of around 15 and are sure to enjoy some great racing throughout the festival.
Digital Satellite Services backed Sutcliffe took 5th place in last year’s final and is determined to do even better this year. Having taken a year out from UK competition due to undertaking important school exams, Dave sees this event as his number one priority in 2010. Coming into the event he is in much better shape both mentally and physically thanks to the help he has received for the Isle of Man Sport Aid and who knows a win could be on the cards.
Of course joining the drivers on the trip will be their much required support teams in what is also sure to be an enjoyable social trip.
Good luck to all attending and I look forward to reporting your stories on your return.
