There was some excellent racing throughout all the classes in Round Nine of the Isle of Man Kart Racing Association’s Manx Metals-sponsored summer series at the JCK Kart circuit last Sunday. At event which also saw lap records being broken in a number of classes.
In the Honda Cadet class Craig Wade claimed heats one and two with Susanne Gutzold grabbing victory in heat three. Starting from pole in the final, Gutzold led every lap of the race to win by 00.18s in front of Wade with Liam McCann third. Wade also set a new lap record 54.62s in the final at an average speed of 42.89mph.
Elliott Alexander took the spoils in heats one and three in the Honda Junior class with Marie Crowe taking top spot in heat two. In would be Alexander though who took full points in the final, producing a controlled drive in tricky conditions following a short spell of rain also setting the fastest lap of 55.33s. He was followed home by Scott Lyon and Connor Collister.
Dave Sutcliffe dominated the Junior TKM four–stroke class with a clean sweep of wins followed home in the final by Andreas Gutzold and Ethan Richardson. Gutzold set a new lap record of 47.48s in final at an average speed of 49.90mph.
Andrew Johnson scored a clean sweep of wins in the Honda Senior class. Starting from pole in the final he led every lap of race to win by 17.16 seconds and set a new lap record of 53.47s in the process. Runner up spot went to Dave Gaggs with Dominic Litton taking the final podium spot.
The Heavy weight class was a close affair with Stephen Lea claiming heats one and three while Andy Wynne-Smythe took the honours in the second heat. While Lea would take the honours in the final, Wynne-Smythe set the fastest lap of 55.29s.
Andrew Hughes won heat one of the Senior TKM four-stroke class but the driver of the meeting was Daniel Bougourd taking the remaining two and claiming his first winning trophy, and setting a new class record of 47.87s at an average speed 49.84mph. Hughes would claim second with Andre Bernard third.
There was further close racing in the combined Rotax Max 125 and 177 classes, Chris Shortall dominated the 125 class with a full set of wins in the heats and final followed by Jamie Smith and Pierre Buckleigh. Shortall also set a new lap record of 46.38s an average speed of 51.16mph. Dan Emms claimed heats one and two in the 177 class with Chris Swinden taking the third heat. Emms went on to take the final honours and record the fastest lap 48.20s in front of Conor Burns and Swinden.
